USS Ticonderoga September monthly meeting

Wednesday, September 12th is the date for the next USS Ticonderoga monthly meeting.  As per normal, it will be held in the meeting rooms at the Weber County Library-Main Branch (25th and Jefferson).  The meeting will start at 7:00pm with the social time.  Later we will have announcements and discussion on future USS Ticonderoga events.  If you have any ideas for the club, this is the time to bring them.  Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

September 1st, start of a new Star Year

The Seventh Fleet has a stardate system set up to create a 24th Century feel to our reports, blog posts, etc.  Every September 1st is the start of a new Star Year.  During the original run of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the stardates would go up by one every September when the new season started.  It continued into Deep Space Nine and Voyager.  We just continued it after those series started.  So September 1, 2012 is now Stardate: 66090.1.  The 66 will change to 67 next September.   The next two numbers (09) is the month.  So October 2012 will be 6610x.x.  And as you probably guessed, the last two digits are the day.   We have the past dates mapped out on the Ticonderoga website under the Stardates section.

Seventh Fleet TNG Re-Watch Party now started

So the Seventh Fleet has started a new Away Team.  To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Star Trek: The Next Generation the fleet is now hosting a weekly re-watch party for TNG episodes.  Every Sunday a new episode will be announced.  To participate, just watch the episode within the week and send in a simple questionnaire.  This questionnaire would then be collected by Admiral Stark who will then combine all of the answers and ratings and send them to the participating chapters as a newsletter article.  If all seven seasons can be completed, the newsletter articles may be combined into one large collection.  The questionnaire can be found online here.

This week we are starting with the Next Generation pilot episode “Encounter at Farpoint”.  Watch it on DVD (or the new blu-ray if you picked up the new set) or on Netflix.  Watch it by yourself or get together with a bunch of friends.  Besides the questionnaire you can also get the just released Encounter at Farpoint ADVOT.  These new ADVOTs were developed to help those wanting to take the Next Generation Commander’s Test.

Announcements about upcoming episodes, details about the project and more on this re-watch party can be found at the new Seventh Fleet sub-domain http://TNG.SeventhFleet.org  Captain Stark would like to encourage everyone to participate in this and have fun with this re-watch party.

August USS Ticonderoga monthly meeting coming up on the 8th

This Wednesday, August 8th, is the upcoming USS Ticonderoga monthly meeting.  This is where both the Command Staff and Crew put together the upcoming events for the club.  As per usual, it will be held in the basement meeting rooms of the Weber County Library-Main Branch (25th and Jefferson in Ogden).  We may have some out-of-town visitors who we haven’t seen in a while.  The meeting starts at 7:00pm.  We will also be talking about the upcoming Seventh Fleet Olympics that will be held on August 18th in Murray.  Bring a friend and we will see you there.

Star Trek now airing on KTVX 4.2 in Utah

As a Star Trek club in Utah, we wanted to support any local business that brought us Star Trek.  We have been waiting for any of the local television stations to bring Star Trek back on the local airwaves.  KTVX has stepped forward with the Original Star Trek TV series.  Starting on July 30th the digital sub-net KTVX 4.2 started showing Me-TV.  This network airs episodes of the Original Star Trek every Saturday night at 7:00pm.  This network can be seen on 4.2 over-the-air or on Comcast cable at channel 104.  On Saturday, 8-4 the episode will be The Immunity Syndrome and on 8-11 they will be airing A Piece of the Action.    Me-TV also shows other classic science-fiction shows such as Batman, Lost in Space, The Twilight Zone, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and The Wild Wild West.

If a local television station is willing to syndicate episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager or Star Trek: Enterprise, we will promote them as well.  Thank you KTVX Ch 4.

UPDATE: Apparently the local feed is airing at 8:00pm not 7:00.  And someone asked if the episodes are the re-mastered versions.  Me-TV is airing the re-mastered editions.

New USS Ticonderoga recruiting flyer now online

With the right tools you can do just about anything.  Currently we need to recruit new members.  A new USS Ticonderoga recruiting flyer was created to pass out at the recent TNG 25th Anniversary event in theaters.  A PDF of this flyer has now been posted on the Ticonderoga website for use in promoting the club.  We would like to get these flyers placed in as many geek hangouts as possible.  There are two flyers per page to make it easier on printing.  The flyer works well in color or black-n-white.  Lets get the word out about our Free Star Trek fan club to all interested fans.

You can find the flyer in the Downloads section or directly HERE.

The USS Ticonderoga promotes The Next Generation 25th Anniversary viewing

On Monday, July 23rd the USS Ticonderoga will be going to the Tinseltown USA in Layton to promote the Next Generation 25th Anniversary Special.  They will be showing two TNG episodes and some behind the scenes of the upcoming blu-ray DVDs.  The address to the theater is 720 West 1500 North just behind the Layton Hill Mall.  For those of you who remember our Star Trek Nemesis promotion in 2002, it is the exact same theater.

Please show up at 6:30pm.  If you have not purchased your tickets, you can pick them up at the box office.  Please come in Star Trek uniforms and costumes (we have extra to loan out if you can contact us ASAP) or Star Trek/Club t-shirt.  In light of the recent events in Colorado, please do not bring any prop/toy weapons or cover your face in a mask or make-up.

We will be passing out flyers to promote the club, so come prepared to talk about the fun we have on the USS Ticonderoga.  Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

From the Captain: Food needed for Ticonderoga auction

Greetings, All!

Thanks again to those who attended the last meeting. It’s always good to see everyone.

As you all know, this coming Saturday, July 21, is the USS Ticonderoga auction. We are in serious need of people to bring food, or as Lt. Frank Buck has done, donate some cash to purchase needed supplies.

What we still need:
Taco shells
Tortillas
2# ground turkey (seasoned)
Shredded lettuce
Shredded cheese
Sliced olives
Diced onions
Diced peppers
Sour cream
Guacamole
Salsa/pico de gallo
Refried beans/black/pinto beans (your choice)

Drinks

Desserts

Thanks to Lt. (j.g) Brad Jacobs for providing the 10 # of seasoned ground beef.

In general, there are about 40 – 50 fleet members who attend, so please take that into consideration.

We are also in need of crock pots to keep hot food hot.

The ship is providing plates/cups/utensils.

If you have any items to donate to the auction itself, we are still taking those, as well. And we do have some cool stuff.

Please email me directly at Tico.Co.Erica@gmail.com to let me know if you are able to help with any of the above-listed items, ASAP.

Thank you again to all of you for hanging on over the last couple of years, proving once again the Ticonderoga is the toughest ship in the fleet.

Hope to see you all next Saturday!

Proud chapter of Starfleet Command's Seventh Fleet
