Welcome to the end… of 2016.
We have finally reached December in this year of Trek. We celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek, the 30th Anniversary of the USS Kelly (our parent chapter) and the 20th Anniversary of the USS Ticonderoga as a club. But the fun is not over yet. December is very busy with holidays and parties. So we limit ourselves during this hectic month to a few items.
First is our regular monthly meeting. Wednesday, December 14th at 7:00pm. We are returning to the Roy Library (2039 West 4000 South) and we will be in activity center two. Every December we hold our gift exchange. (Think white elephant with a Star Trek twist). Here is some information from Captain Stark about our Purple Mugato gift exchange.
The Rules:
-Gift must be clean and complete – no missing pieces, no used hygiene items. (Think something that you wouldn’t mind winding up with when all is said and done.)
-Gift must be family-friendly.
-Gift must be wrapped and anonymous, and please don’t spend any more than $10.00 if you are making a purchase (creating items is encouraged).
-Each person that wishes to participate in the gift exchange must bring a gift.
-Don’t forget, if the gift itself (not the wrapping) is the same color as our mugato, you get a treat!
Also at the meeting don’t forget to turn in your $10 for the 2017 Seventh Fleet Calendar. This is going to be the sixth straight year that the fleet has produced a calendar for the Star Trek family.
On Friday, December 16th Captain Stark will be hosting the Senior Officer’s Meeting at Starbase 40. This will be at 7:00pm. Please brown-bag/drive through your dinner for the night. Captain Stark has a LOT of information from the recent Seventh Fleet Council meeting to go over.
New Years Eve we will be holding our annual party. This will be at the home of Lt. Frank Buck in Layton. The food theme this year will be Italian dishes. Please see your department chief for food assignments.
July on the USS Ticonderoga
Wow, July has already been busy with FantasyCon, WesterCon and Independence Day. We hope that everyone recovered from the long weekend.
Now we have several more events coming up. Wednesday, July 9th is the USS Ticonderoga monthly meeting. Yes it will be at the Roy Library at 7:00pm (we called and confirmed that they had the spot for us). Friday, July 11th is the Senior Officers Meeting at the Captain’s house. Please have your reports and/or requests into you Department Chiefs before this date. Saturday, July 12th we have two things going on. At 10:00am at Bicentennial Park in Clearfield (just behind the Clearfield library) the Seventh Fleet is doing a photo shoot of members in costume/uniform. This will be for our upcoming Salt Lake Comic Con ad. At 2:00pm at Fisher Park in Clearfield (on 700 South) we will be doing another rocket launch (by request from members who missed the last one).
You can bring family and friends to the Monthly Meeting or Rocket Launch. Come by and have some fun with us. We’ve got a lot of planning coming up for our chapter and we would like to hear your input on all of them.
Always remember to have fun.
USS Ticonderoga New Years Eve party
Well we survived 2013. The year that wasn’t suppose to happen thanks to the Myan apocalypse . We had a lot of fun this year. The first ever (and record breaking) Salt Lake Comic Con. The Star Trek Into Darkness movie promotion. Moving meeting locations to Clearfield. What was some of your club highlights from 2013?
And we are continuing our tradition of a USS Ticonderoga New Years Eve party. As you can see the first three guests are on their way and they are excited about joining us for the fun. Lt. Frank Buck will be hosting the event at his home in Layton (email us if you don’t have the address). The club will be providing meat for the BBQ. Please bring side dishes, deserts or drinks. Also feel free to bring fireworks and any games or videos that you would like to share. The party will start at 7:00pm. Feel free to bring friends and family. This will be a non-alcoholic event.
ADDITIONAL: We will also be doing the Bajoran Renewal Scrolls at the party. For details on this see the Deep Space Nine episode Fascination.
Happy New Year 2013
Welcome everyone to the year 2013 (Stardate: 66010.1 in the Seventh Fleet system). The year of 2012 held many good memories for us. Star Trek: The Next Generation turned 25 years old (and we are celebrating with the TNG Re-Watch Party that is still going on). We had the re-integration with Utah’s longest running Science Fiction convention, CONduit with special guest Tim Russ (Tuvok from Star Trek: Voyager). At this convention the USS Ticonderoga won the Room Party Contest. The release of Star Trek: TNG blu-rays had two theater specials. The Seventh Fleet held a wonderful Admiral’s Banquet and Seventh Fleet games where we had fun with our Star Trek family. We started role-playing nights for Star Trek and Dungeons and Dragons. And Star Trek returned locally to our airwaves on KTVX 4.2.
So what are we looking forward to in 2013? This will be the 15th Anniversary of the founding of the Seventh Fleet. We had to pull together after our previous parent organization had disbanded. Even today challenges remain and new adventures await us. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine will turn 20 years old in 2013. Star Trek fan, author and historian, Larry Nemecek, will be attending CONduit 23 as a guest. And probably the biggest event, the new Star Trek Into Darkness will be released on May 17th. This will be an opportunity to promote both the movie and the club as well.
So what else will we be doing in 2013? There are many months that we could fill with many fun club activities. At the January 9th meeting we will be putting together the 2013 calendar of events. We need everyone to show up and submit your ideas and feedback on many different events and community service that the club can participate in. This will be at the Weber County Library-Main Branch (25th and Jefferson in Ogden). This is your club, what would you like to see it do?
Happy Fourth of July
The USS Ticonderoga would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Independence Day. Enjoy the parades, the fireworks, the good food and the time with your family and friends. Please take a moment out of your day to thank the brave men and women who serve our country in the military, law enforcement and emergency services. We can’t thank you enough for the freedoms we enjoy today.
Food assignments for New Years Eve party
Once again it is time for the annual USS Ticonderoga New Years Eve party. This year we are returning to the breakfast theme for our meal. The meat, eggs and utensils will be provided by other volunteers. We are using the last name to fill out the following food assignments.
Last name starts with A-E: Please bring Milk, juice or nog.
Last name starts with F-J: Please bring syrup, butter, jellies and condiments.
Last name starts with K-O: Please bring Fruit, coco or soda.
Last name starts with P-Z: Please bring bread, croissants, donuts and other pastries.
Any food can be brought that fits the breakfast theme.
The party starts at 7:00pm on Saturday, December 31st and runs until just after midnight. Lt. Frank Buck will be hosting the party at his home in Layton. Bring games, fireworks and your smiling faces as we ring in the new year.
Happy Holidays from the USS Ticonderoga
The Command Staff and Members of the USS Ticonderoga wish a safe and happy holiday season to all of our friends and family. The members of the Seventh Fleet have always been known as our Star Trek family. Even if you are not a member of the Seventh Fleet, we have welcomed you with open arms as fellow Star Trek fans. We Do Not Stand Alone. We hope that 2011 was a good year for you and that 2012 will bring you many great memories.
December monthly meeting and annual gift exchange
Wednesday, December 14th is the date for the USS Ticonderoga monthly meeting. As per usual it will be held at the Weber County Library-Main Branch (25th and Jefferson) at 7:00pm. We will be meeting in the basement class room. Besides this being the monthly meeting, it will also be our annual gift exchange. This year we are calling it the Chartreuse Mugato (think White Elephant). Home made items are encouraged. If you wish to purchase a gift, please do not exceed $10.
The winner of the December Caption Contest will be announced at the meeting.
As per usual, we will be heading out to the Village Inn on 12th Street for dinner/pie afterwards. This is one of the largest attended meetings of the year and would be perfect to bring prospective members to check us out. See you all there.
Happy Thanksgiving and November Activity
Greetings Everyone. From the many members of the USS Ticonderoga, we would like to wish you and your family a safe and happy Thanksgiving Day. We hope that you have the opportunity to get together with family and express all of the things that you are thankful for. Lets also give out our thoughts and prayers to those who could not be at home with family on this important holiday.
On Saturday, November 26th is the USS Ticonderoga monthly activity. Members of the shuttle White Buffalo from Tooele are coming up with their Star Trek simulator that is run on multiple computers. Various people can take up different bridge positions seen on the show as we run through various combat scenarios. This will be shown off at the home of Dave Stock in Syracuse (on Antelope Drive). This will start at 6:00pm and run until ???? If you want to work off some frustrations from the holiday weekend and fighting the zombie mobs on Black Friday, this is the place to be.
