Seventh Fleet represent!!!!!!!!

So several chapters in the Seventh Fleet had the opportunity to attend the Star Trek: The Next Generation Season Two theatrical premier last week.  Star Trek historian and archivist Larry Nemecek was collecting photos from various events across the country to show on his Trekland website.  Of the photos he selected he chose several from the USS Retributor in Salt Lake and the USS Ticonderoga in Ogden.

You can see the photos from both Star Trek clubs (and more) here.  Apparently Larry’s theater had some technical difficulties the night of the event.

Changes to November activity and December meeting

Greetings everyone.  At the November USS Ticonderoga meeting we discussed some changes to the upcoming events.  We would like to thank everyone who was in attendance and provided input (this is your club and we appreciate your involvement).  Instead of doing the laser tag on November 17th, the crew elected to make the special theatrical showing of Star Trek: The Next Generation Season Two promo the monthly activity.  This will be held at the Newgate Mall-Cinemark 14 Theaters.  Please be in the lobby at 6:30pm so we can pass out flyers and recruit new members.  Please be in uniform or Star Trek t-shirts.

Normally we have a monthly meeting every Second Wednesday of the month.  However in December the Captain has a family concert on that date.  As  you all remember the December meeting is also when we do our gift exchange (a very popular event).  Options were discussed and the crew elected to move the gift exchange to the End of the World Party that was already scheduled on Friday, December 21st.  There will be no December monthly meeting to give everyone a break for the holidays.

If you have any questions, please post them in the comments below or contact your department chief.

November USS Ticonderoga meeting

Greetings everyone, the next USS Ticonderoga meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 14th.  We need everyone to be in attendance as we need to talk about changes to the November activity (Laser tag) and the December meeting (also when we do our gift exchange).  We also need to talk about the Next Generation Season 2 movie promotion at the end of November.  So please be in attendance at 7:00pm (bring friends and family as well) so we can talk about what is happening over the next 2-3 months.  Also Captain Stark will be giving a report from the Seventh Fleet Council meeting.  There was lots of interesting and neat items discussed that she wants to pass on.

USS Ticonderoga Halloween party

It looks like Data’s Halloween costume is a gangster.  I wonder why Riker isn’t in costume yet?  It is time for you to get dressed up for the USS Ticonderoga Halloween party.  October 31st starting at 7:00pm at the home of Captain Stark in Clearfield.  Please bring a bag of candy for trick-or-treaters.  What costume will you wear?

USS Ticonderoga auction on October 27th

It looks like Karl (Dr. McCoy) Urban out-bid someone at the auction for that action figure he wanted.  Are you going to let this happen to you?  You’ll have a chance to beat out the other treasure hunters at the USS Ticonderoga Auction.  This will be held on Saturday, October 27th at 2:00pm.

The event (which is open to anyone in the public) will be held at the home of the Executive Officer, Lt. Dave Stock.  The address is 1190 West 1700 South, Syracuse, UT 84075.  Head North (or South) on I-15 until you come to the Antelope Drive exit in Layton.  Then head west on Antelope Drive until you reach the home in Syracuse (note: Antelope Drive is 1700 South).  Look for the balloons and signs in front of the home.

Besides the auction items, there will also be a dinner available.  The club is providing soups and stews and hot cider for dinner.  The cost will be $3/person or $10/family.  Remember that all funds raised is used to keep the club dues-free and to cover some basic operational costs.  Payments accepted will be cash or check (and the checks can be post-dated).   Please bring your family, friends and chairs.

USS Ticonderoga Activity: Corn Maze at Black Island Farms

So what do you think you’ll see at the Black Island Farms corn maze?  Well we will find out on Saturday, October 13th.  We will be meeting between 5-6pm at the farms located at 3178 South 3000 West  Syracuse, UT 84075.  It is recommended that you eat dinner before arriving at the farm.  Since you need to travel down Antelope Drive there are several fast food choices along that route (A&W, Crown Burger, Burger King, Taco Time, McDonalds, Warren’s, Rancheritos, Article Circle, Wendys, Arbys, Carl’s Jr. and Iceberg Drive Inn to name a few)

The cost for admission is as follows: Corn maze- $10/adults (age 13+) $8/children (ages 3-12). Farm Hayride (with pumpkin) $8/adults (age 13+) $5/children (ages 3-12).  There is also a combo for both the maze and the hayride.  Cost is $15/adults and $10/children.  If we can get more than 15 people to commit by the Oct 10th Ticonderoga Meeting, we can try to get a group discount.  The ticket booth takes cash or checks.  There is an ATM on site.  Don’t forget your jackets and flashlights.

This has been one of our most popular annual activities and is appropriate for all ages.  If you have someone who may be interested in checking out some of the fun things we do as a club, this would be one of the events to bring them too.

The USS Ticonderoga October Monthly Meeting is sneaking up on you

For a lot of people, September flew by with back to school, start of football and more.  Not having a monthly activity to help break up the month didn’t help either.  Luckily we have several events planned for October that we need to discuss at the October 10th USS Ticonderoga monthly meeting.  Some of these include the Black Island Farms corn maze visit on Saturday, Oct 13th (we are trying to see if we can get a group discount so send in your RSVPs).  We also need to talk about the upcoming USS Ticonderoga Auction coming up at Lt. Dave Stock’s house on Saturday, Oct 27th (we need to set up food assignments and get the last items for the auction).  And finally October will wrap up with the annual USS Ticonderoga Halloween Party at the Stark’s in Clearfield (we need to talk about party specifics).

So bring your family and friends to the next USS Ticonderoga monthly meeting starting at 7pm, this Wednesday October 10th at the Weber County Library-Main Branch (25th and Jefferson in Ogden).  See you all there.

USS Ticonderoga September monthly meeting

Wednesday, September 12th is the date for the next USS Ticonderoga monthly meeting.  As per normal, it will be held in the meeting rooms at the Weber County Library-Main Branch (25th and Jefferson).  The meeting will start at 7:00pm with the social time.  Later we will have announcements and discussion on future USS Ticonderoga events.  If you have any ideas for the club, this is the time to bring them.  Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

September 1st, start of a new Star Year

The Seventh Fleet has a stardate system set up to create a 24th Century feel to our reports, blog posts, etc.  Every September 1st is the start of a new Star Year.  During the original run of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the stardates would go up by one every September when the new season started.  It continued into Deep Space Nine and Voyager.  We just continued it after those series started.  So September 1, 2012 is now Stardate: 66090.1.  The 66 will change to 67 next September.   The next two numbers (09) is the month.  So October 2012 will be 6610x.x.  And as you probably guessed, the last two digits are the day.   We have the past dates mapped out on the Ticonderoga website under the Stardates section.
