USS Ticonderoga New Years Eve party

"Data don't hurt me....no more"
(singing) “Data don’t hurt me….no more”

Well we survived 2013.  The year that wasn’t suppose to happen thanks to the Myan apocalypse .  We had a lot of fun this year.  The first ever (and record breaking) Salt Lake Comic Con.  The Star Trek Into Darkness movie promotion.  Moving meeting locations to Clearfield.  What was some of your club highlights from 2013?

And we are continuing our tradition of a USS Ticonderoga New Years Eve party.  As you can see the first three guests are on their way and they are excited about joining us for the fun.  Lt. Frank Buck will be hosting the event at his home in Layton (email us if you don’t have the address).  The club will be providing meat for the BBQ.  Please bring side dishes, deserts or drinks.  Also feel free to bring fireworks and any games or videos that you would like to share.  The party will start at 7:00pm.  Feel free to bring friends and family.  This will be a non-alcoholic event.

ADDITIONAL: We will also be doing the Bajoran Renewal Scrolls at the party.  For details on this see the Deep Space Nine episode Fascination.

USS Ticonderoga Halloween Party

omghesdeadjimIt’s here, it’s here.  The USS Ticonderoga Halloween Party is tonight at the Captain’s home in Clearfield.  Bring your kids in costume to go trick-or-treating.  Bring a bag of candy to share with the kids when they come by.  Bring your pot-luck item to share with your fellow shipmates.  We will start at 8:00pm for dinner.  Who knows what scary movies we may watch.  We will also have the fire-pit out front to roast marshmallows for fun.

Ticonderoga Activity: Black Island Farms Cornmaze

Kahn_WaldoIt has become an annual tradition to visit a cornmaze for an activity in October.  We will be going to the Black Island Farms for this event on Friday, October 25th.  The address is 3178 South 3000 West in Syracuse.  We will be meeting at 8:00pm.  It would be recommended that you eat before coming out.

The adult cost is $11/person for the cornmaze.  Kids (3-12) are $9/person.  The hayride is $9 for adults and $6 for kids (includes a free pumpkin).  A combo is available for both maze and hayride at the price of $16/adults and $11/kids.  If you want to go to Nightmare Acres, the cost is $16.

Make sure to dress warmly and bring flashlights.  Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Upcoming Doctor Who anniversary

Doctor_VulcanSignApparently the Doctor is a fan of Star Trek.  Well the members of the USS Ticonderoga love other science fiction show as well.  In fact at the last meeting there was a discussion about the upcoming 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who special that is coming up on November 23rd.  We have two Doctor Who events for November that we can do as a group.  The first is attending a parody play called Doctor U (as in Utah) at the Off Broadway Theater on Saturday November 16th.  The second is getting together as a group and watching the 50th Anniversary special.  Is someone willing to host the anniversary viewing and has BBC America?  If so, please let the Captain or Executive Officer know.

Ticonderoga Activity: Hill AFB Museum

94596_oFor the month of July the crew of the USS Ticonderoga voted to attend a free event.  Starting at 1:00pm (so have lunch before you come by) the crew will be meeting just inside the front door to the Hill Air Force Base Museum.  There is no cost for admission.  There are a lot of indoor exhibits but quite a few outdoor ones as well so dress appropriately and bring water.  The museum is just east of the I-15 Roy exit.  Feel free to bring any friends or family.  Looking forward to seeing you there.

USS Ticonderoga t-shirt design contest

tumblr_mews3bICHj1qfdvczo1_250Well it looks like Captain Kirk needs a new shirt, and so do we.  It has been quite a long time since we have produced a club t-shirt for purchase by members.  So we are now taking designs for a new shirt.  Bring your shirt designs to the July 10th meeting at the North Davis Library in Clearfield.

Event/Meeting: Introduction to the USS Ticonderoga BBQ

1350122477497For the month of June we have decided to combine both our activity and meeting into one grand event.  Wednesday, June 12th we will be holding an Introduction to the USS Ticonderoga BBQ.  This will start at 7:00pm at the Kiwanis Park in Clearfield.  The address is 300 N. Vine Street.  Bring your own meat to grill and a dish to share.

If you have any questions about the Star Trek fan club, USS Ticonderoga or the Seventh Fleet (our parent organization), Q will be there to answer your questions.  Family and friends are welcome as it adds to the fun.  We will also be discussing the movie promotion and CONduit reviews.  We have changes coming up for the July activity that we need to decide upon.  There is also a discussion on the upcoming Salt Lake Comic Con that we need to plan for.

We can announce that one change has been made.  For the past several years we have been meeting at the Weber County Library in Ogden.  However with the second Wednesdays no longer being available due to the city taking over the meeting space, we needed to find a new location.  We wanted to stick with the second Wednesdays of the month for our meeting, so starting on July 10th we will be meeting at the Davis County North (Clearfield) library located at 562 S 1000 E.  This is just off of the Clearfield 700 south exit of I-15.

We are looking forward to seeing you at many of our upcoming fun activities and meetings.

Welcome to the USS Ticonderoga

tumblr_mlqazxxMau1re4m0po2_250We had a great time promoting the new Star Trek: Into Darkness movie at the Megaplex 13 theaters in The Junction.  One of the best parts was meeting all of the various Star Trek fans that came out to see the movie.  There were a lot of people in uniform and a lot of interested people who stopped by the booth.  The life-sized action figure box resulted in a lot of fun photos.  We even had the Ogden Standard-Examiner come by to profile us in an article (which will be added to our In The News section soon).

So to all of those interested Star Trek fans who are now reading this website, welcome.  We made this website for our members and possible members to find out more about our free Star Trek fan club.  We have been a club since 1996.  You can read about some of our past in our History section.  We have had a wide variety of Past Activities and Upcoming Events (we are always looking to try something new).  Our Community Service is also something that we are very fond of promoting.  We are very proud of our Intrepid class starship and it’s Namesake.  What really makes our club a family is our Crew.  We are a founding chapter of the Seventh Fleet, our parent organization.  We also get along with a lot of other Star Trek/Sci-Fi groups and proudly display the gifts we’ve received in our online Trophy Case.  Besides this website, you can also interact with us on our Facebook page or on our Yahoogroups.  If you have any questions that are not on our FAQ, you can Contact us and we will be more than happy to answer them.  If you are ready to Join, you can fill out a membership application and we will let you know when the next USS Ticonderoga meeting will be.  Welcome aboard.
