July on the USS Ticonderoga

usbadgedarkWow, July has already been busy with FantasyCon, WesterCon and Independence Day. We hope that everyone recovered from the long weekend.

Now we have several more events coming up.  Wednesday, July 9th is the USS Ticonderoga monthly meeting.  Yes it will be at the Roy Library at 7:00pm (we called and confirmed that they had the spot for us).  Friday, July 11th is the Senior Officers Meeting at the Captain’s house.  Please have your reports and/or requests into you Department Chiefs before this date.  Saturday, July 12th we have two things going on.  At 10:00am at Bicentennial Park in Clearfield (just behind the Clearfield library) the Seventh Fleet is doing a photo shoot of members in costume/uniform.  This will be for our upcoming Salt Lake Comic Con ad.  At 2:00pm at Fisher Park in Clearfield (on 700 South) we will be doing another rocket launch (by request from members who missed the last one).

You can bring family and friends to the Monthly Meeting or Rocket Launch.  Come by and have some fun with us.  We’ve got a lot of planning coming up for our chapter and we would like to hear your input on all of them.

Always remember to have fun.

USS Ticonderoga Feb activity Unlimited Laser Tag/Bowling

tumblr_lpnxgrAXtF1qemjzlo1_500At our January meeting it was asked by members of the crew if we could participate in another laser tag event.  We had a lot of fun the last time we had went in 2012.  The crew elected to go back to the Boondocks laser tag arena in Kaysville.  As we were looking over different dates, we discovered that on Tuesday’s, Boondocks had unlimited laser tag and bowling (including shoe rental) for $12/each.  This also included some other events as well.  By comparison, a single laser tag game is $6 and a single bowling game is $4 (not counting shoe rental).  The unlimited time runs from 4:00pm to 10:00pm.  We elected to hold this event on February 25th.  Feel free to show up anytime after 4pm (most will arrive after work schedules permit) and feel free to bring family and friends.

Boondocks is located at 525 West Deseret Drive, Kaysville, UT 84037

Feb USS Ticonderoga meeting on Wednesday

zetarThis Wednesday, February 12, is the next USS Ticonderoga monthly meeting.  We will be at Rocket Fuel Coffee for the meeting (50 South State Street in Clearfield) at 7:00pm.  We will be talking about the challenges that we’ve accepted from the 2014 Seventh Fleet Admiral’s Banquet.  We will also be discussing our upcoming Lazer Tag event on Feb 25th (the cost also covers bowling as well).  A few Ticonderoga members checked out a Star Trek tactics game that they want to show off.  Will we be discussing anything else?  That depends upon what you bring up.  Bring friends and family and lets talk about the community service and fun that we can have as a group.  We look forward to seeing you there.

January USS Ticonderoga meeting on the 8th

EntE_WarpWe have a big meeting coming up on Wednesday, January 8th.  This will be at 7:00pm at the Rocket Fuel Coffee Shop (50 South State Street in Clearfield).  The primary purpose of our January meeting will be to fill out our 2014 event calendar.  We need ideas of what the group would like to do for fun, community service or perhaps just something we’ve never done before.

This is also a great meeting to introduce new recruits to the club.  We would love to hear everyone’s input on the future of the club.  If you would like to order drinks or a meal before the meeting, please arrive early.

USS Ticonderoga New Years Eve party

"Data don't hurt me....no more"
(singing) “Data don’t hurt me….no more”

Well we survived 2013.  The year that wasn’t suppose to happen thanks to the Myan apocalypse .  We had a lot of fun this year.  The first ever (and record breaking) Salt Lake Comic Con.  The Star Trek Into Darkness movie promotion.  Moving meeting locations to Clearfield.  What was some of your club highlights from 2013?

And we are continuing our tradition of a USS Ticonderoga New Years Eve party.  As you can see the first three guests are on their way and they are excited about joining us for the fun.  Lt. Frank Buck will be hosting the event at his home in Layton (email us if you don’t have the address).  The club will be providing meat for the BBQ.  Please bring side dishes, deserts or drinks.  Also feel free to bring fireworks and any games or videos that you would like to share.  The party will start at 7:00pm.  Feel free to bring friends and family.  This will be a non-alcoholic event.

ADDITIONAL: We will also be doing the Bajoran Renewal Scrolls at the party.  For details on this see the Deep Space Nine episode Fascination.

Poll: Ticonderoga meeting place

anim_57_bigWe had a lot of people join us at the Rocket Fuel Coffee Company for our last meeting and holiday gift exchange.  The crew had a lot of fun exchanging (and stealing) gifts.  A favorite drink for several members was the Hot Chocolate with white chocolate or the Italian Sodas.  Apparently we impressed the owners of the coffee shop.  They asked if we wanted to return for future monthly meetings we usually hold on the second Wednesday of the month.  The owners were willing to give us a 10% discount on our orders.  It was also not required that everyone purchase in order to participate.  Our meetings would still start at 7:00pm (but that wouldn’t stop people from arriving early to get drinks or food if they wanted).  The library meeting room closes at 8:30pm, the coffee shop closes at 9:00pm.  Both locations have free wi-fi.  The coffee shop is on main street (and a main bus line).  The library would be a classroom type setting where the coffee shop would be more of a living room style setting.  Both locations are open to the public but we can close the door to the room at the library.  There are positives and negatives to both locations.  We haven’t signed a contract for the library for the 2014 year.  What do you guys think?  Stay at the Clearfield Library or move to the Rocket Fuel Coffee shop?  As this is your club, please let Captain Stark know what your preferences are.  We haven’t made a decision yet without getting input from the crew.

USS Ticonderoga December meeting

2x15It’s finally December. So besides the normal monthly USS Ticonderoga meeting we will also have our annual gift exchange.  This year the Captain has chosen the color of Magenta for our Mugato gifts (instead of white elephants).   If you wish to participate in this gift exchange, wrap a present that you want to give and bring it.  If you want to purchase a gift, please don’t pay any more than $10.  Make the gift something you would like to receive yourself (no used loofahs or ABC bubble gum).

This meeting will be on Wednesday, December 11th at 7:00pm.  NOTE LOCATION CHANGE.  We will be meeting at the Rocket Fuel Coffee shop located at 50 S. State Street in Clearfield.  We need to meet here as our December meetings tend to go longer than the closing time of the Clearfield library.  January we will return to the library for our meeting.

There are several special announcements that will be made.  There will be a discussion on the upcoming Ticonderoga New Years Eve party.  We also need your RSVPs for the upcoming Seventh Fleet Admiral’s Banquet on January 25th (so we can get out proper food assignments).  We look forward to seeing everyone at one of our largest meetings of the year.

Ticonderoga activity on Saturday: Testing and Dr. Who

anim_39_bigSo we’ve decided to combine two activities into one for this Saturday, November 23rd.  Several crewmembers have asked for a day that they can come and work on ADVOTs.  Several other crewmemers would like to take the Academy Exam towards rank advancements.  Also this Saturday is the 50th Anniversary episode of Doctor Who.  Well we are going to do both at the home of the Executive Officer, Lt. Dave Stock, in Syracuse.  Meet at 6:00pm for both events.

If you are looking for a certain ADVOT, you can find them in our special Download ADVOTs section of the website.  If there is a specific Academy Exam that you would like to take (TOS, TNG, DS9, Voy or Ent), please let the Captain know as we have limited copies of some exams.
