Next meeting, March 9th. Now held at the newly opened Roy Library

WeberCountySouthwestBranchLibraryFor the last several months our old meeting location of the Roy library was closed as they moved to a new building.  The new Weber County Southwest Branch is now opened at 2039 West 4000 South, Roy, UT 84067.  This is just behind the old IOMEGA building in Roy.  If you are traveling by bus, UTA route 640 goes right by the library. For those of you taking the UTA Frontrunner, the Roy stop is just to the west of the library (it would probably be best to hop on 640 from the station or ask a fellow crewmember to pick you up from the station).

We have the meeting room set up for the next three months (March, April and May).  We will be meeting at 7:00pm.  Currently we do not know if food and drinks from the new cafe in the library are allowed in the meeting rooms (we will find out soon).  There is free WiFi at the library and they have other features we hope to use as well.

Please bring a friend to the March 9th meeting. We will have a lot to discuss including the USS Ticonderoga booth at the Salt Lake Comic Con-FanX.  Our upcoming Star Trek Beyond movie promotion.  We will also have new orders, rank advancements and medals to pass out to the crew.  We would love to see you there.

We would like to thank the Game Den of Layton for temporarily hosting us for the last three months.

December 9th meeting location

1x12bWell as you may recall from our last meeting, we had a long discussion about different meeting locations.  After gathering some information (and other tidbits are still being collected) the Captain and Staff of the USS Ticonderoga have made arrangements to meet at the Game Den Gaming Events Center in Layton for the next three months (Dec-Feb).  The address is 719 N. Main Street (in the strip mall that sits between the Del Taco and Walmart.  The meeting will still start at 7:00pm and you are welcome to bring family and friends to the monthly meetings.

What will happen after the three months will depend on several things.  1- How do we feel about our three month trial at Game Den, 2- Will the new Roy library be too far from the bulk of members (they are building the new library near the Roy Frontrunner station on the north side of town).  3- Did any of the other options pan out?  If you have any thoughts or ideas, please give them to your department chief.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting next Wednesday.  We have to talk about food assignments for our New Years Eve party, the next Seventh Fleet game night (Star Trek Uno), the Seventh Fleet Admiral’s Banquet, the Seventh Fleet 2016 calendar and more.  Thank you for being a member.

ADDITIONAL FROM CAPTAIN STARK: Just a reminder from your friendly neighborhood elf: This Wednesday, December 9th, is the annual Ticonderoga gift exchange. We will be meeting at the Game Den in Layton.
Please remember to bring your WRAPPED but not tagged gifts if you wish to participate in the exchange.
If you purchase new, make sure you don’t spend over $10.00 on it.
This year our mugato is rainbow, so, if your gift contains a rainbow as part of it’s design, you get a booby prize. (I haven’t decided what it will be yet, but I’ve got a few days to figure it out!)
Hope to see you all there!

October meeting (14th) and activity (17th)

anim_39_bigSo after having a ton of fun raising money for the Children’s Justice Center at the Salt Lake Comic Con-Seventh Fleet booth we now turn our attention to October.

Wednesday, October 14th we will be returning to the Roy Library for our monthly meeting (we don’t know if this will stay permanent for the winter months).  The address to the library is 1950 West 4800 South.  The meeting will start at 7:00pm in the auditorium.  We may have several new recruits checking us out so be prepared to introduce yourself and talk about the fun we have in our Star Trek family.  This would also be a good meeting to bring new recruits to.

Saturday, October 17th we will be holding an activity at the Black Island Farms cornmaze (Utah’s largest maze) in Syracuse (address is 3178 South 3000 West).   We will be meeting in the courtyard at 4:00pm.  The courtyard has play areas for the kids.  We would advise having a jacket, good walking shoes, a flashlight and water with you.  There is food available within the facility or you can eat before coming over.  Cost depends upon how many attractions you wish to visit (Cornmaze, Pumpkin Ride, Haunted house).  They have combos and specials on their website at http://www.blackislandfarms.com/

Note 1: The Hogle Zoo activity has been moved to 2016.  We will discuss dates at our January monthly meeting.

Note 2: Department Chiefs please contact the CO or XO about the date/time for the next Senior Officers Meeting.

USS Ticonderoga meeting on June 10th

StarTrekOtterDarknessAnd now a word from our Captain: Hey everyone! Just a reminder that the June Tico meeting is this coming Wednesday, June 10th at 7:00pm (grill will be started earlier if you want to come cook early). We will be at Central park in Clearfield again, and this month we will be firing up the grill.  Please bring something to throw on the grill, and a dish to share.

As always, the ship will be providing plates, utensils, napkins, cups, and condiments.

Don’t forget any show and tell items you may have, feel free to bring a friend and come prepared with a factoid about our new spirit guide for a treat.

May 13 Meeting ** new location **

tumblr_mtaexjgO1P1rik14zo1_400With the warmer months now upon us we have moved our meetings outside as requested by the members.  We will be meeting at the Clearfield Central Park located on 140 East Center St.  If you know where the Clearfield City Hall is on the corner of Main and Center Street.  The park is just to the east of the city hall and elementary school.

As we will be at a park, the kids can go an play during the meeting.  Also you are encouraged to bring your own picnic dinners to enjoy during the meeting.  The meetings are open to anyone who wishes to attend and check out the club.  And don’t forget to bring anything you wish to show off during Show-n-Tell.

We will be discussing our room party plans for CONduit at this meeting.  We look forward to seeing everyone there.

19th Anniversary, March Meeting and March Activity

picard_clappingFirst: The USS Ticonderoga started as a Star Trek club on this date, March 9th, all the way back in 1996.  We met at the Clearfield Library to announce our launching (as the USS Euphrates, a chapter-in-training off of the USS Kelly) and then went to the Hill AFB Museum as the activity.  That was nineteen years ago.  How many clubs last for over nineteen years?  Congratulations to all of you who contribute towards the club.

Second: The March Meeting is coming up on Wednesday the 11th at 7:00pm.  And yes we are back at the Roy Library after having to find alternate locations for the last two months.  Bring your Star Trek show and tell items.  More importantly, bring a friend to introduce to the club.  Remember you gain 10 leadership points for each new recruit.

Third: Our March activity will be held on Saturday the 14th.  Lt. Richard Luke will be conducting a leather working class.  There is a $5 material fee for the items we are making (a rounder, a coin purse or a key-chain).  Please RSVP at the meeting so we have enough material.  We are also encouraging everyone to celebrate Pi Day by bringing a favorite pie.  This will start at noon at Starbase 40.   You may want to eat lunch before coming over.

We’ve been busy and distracted

datassYes we are still around. We had a very busy and distracting September-December.  We did a ton of fundraising at the Salt Lake Comic Con last September.  We had multiple activities in October and November.  Our gaming events have exploded and we have been working on new newsletters.  And we continued to have a blast with the fireworks at our New Years Eve Party.  We’ve been planning future events, community service events and convention trips and room parties.

2015 will be very exciting for us.  Look for announcements and details soon.

*USS Ticonderoga* Seventh Fleet day and August activities

redAll hands to duty stations!

August is going to be a busy month for us!  Hope you all are up to the challenge.

August 9th is Tico RPG prep night. Come and create a character for the Ticonderoga/Seventh fleet role playing game. 6 pm, SB 40.

August 13th is our general meeting, held this month at the Roy library auditorium, 7 pm.

For department chiefs, we have the Senior Officers’ meeting on August 15th, at SB 40.  7 pm, and dinner will be provided.

August 16th is Fleet Day, and it’s been a long time (seven years) since the Tico hosted a fleet event.

I’ve already sent an email to the C.O.s and X.O.s of all the other ships, asking them for a headcount of attendees, because we will be providing the meal for the day.

The following departments are in charge of side dishes and/or salads:

Medical, Science, Conn, Engineering, Civilians, Communications and Tactical.

Security has drinks and Ops has chips.

Our illustrious X.O. is taking care of condiments.

The Rear Admiral and I will be covering the plates, cups, utensils, napkins, and charcoal for the grill, and the ship is providing the meat.

Security is also providing the Nerf guns for the target practice game.  We have a couple of styrofoam red shirts for targets.

If anyone has coolers that we can use for the day to keep our food safe, please bring them along. (Make sure they are marked, so they get back to the correct homes.)

We are also in need of donations of the following:

Buckets and large sponges (please no scrubby-tops) for the water fight; a game net, old towels (they will rip), and water balloons for the water balloon volleyball; lots of 6-sided dice for Liar’s Dice (there will be several games running at once, rather than 1 huge game); and an extra-long tape measure for saucer separation.

There will be AdvOTs/PMPs available to be taken and lots of command grade officers to pass them off.

We will start arriving at the park (Island View Park, 1800 South Main st., Clearfield), at 8 am to get everything set up.  We will begin serving lunch at 11 am.  The auction will begin at 12:30 and will only run for 2 hours. The games, panels, and Admiral’s Challenge will run from 3-7 pm, and cleanup will run until 8.

August 23rd will be another game night at SB 40. We will be playing Apples to Apples and Zombie dice.

Coming in the near future is Salt Lake Comic Con. The White Buffalo will again be running the Artemis bridge simulator, and will need help.  In order to qualify for the free passes, you will have to commit to at least 4 hours of service at the bridge simulator each day of the convention.  There will be a schedule for the volunteers, and more complete information will be coming soon.

Thank you for all that you do, and I hope to see you all attending at least one of the activities this month.
